The Enterprise License
The Manta Enterprise License is for
organizations that want to train multiple students online via MantaNow,
an Internet-based delivery system that provides global access to Manta's
complete iSeries Training Library.
Who should consider the Enterprise License?
The
Enterprise License is ideal for large organizations and iSeries consulting
companies who have employees at geographically disbursed locations. MantaNow delivers the training to your
students, wherever in the world they may be located. Courses are available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
How does it work?
Organizations that enroll in the Enterprise
License program are provided with a user ID and password for each student.
Students can sign on to MantaNow from work or at home. As a MantaNow user, your
organization has immediate access to all new Manta courses and course updates.
What
does it cost?
Under the Enterprise License, an organization
prepays for a specified number of training units. A training unit corresponds to
one student taking one course. A
minimum commitment of $4950 gives you 50 training units. In other words, you pay ¾ at most ¾ $99 per student per course, an incredible value by any
measure.
How you select
courses is up to you. For example, one
student can take 100 courses, 100 students can take 1 course each, or 10
students can each take 10 different courses. In
general, a typical organization with 75 students would pay less than $1,500 per
student for complete training in iSeries programming or operations.
You have three full years to use the training
units you purchase. The larger your
commitment, the more you save, with prices as low as $25 per course! See the
Enterprise License price list
for specifics.
If you
need additional training units, you can purchase them at the same low price.
How
do I keep track of who took what?
Enterprise License
customers receive a report at the end of each month, listing the courses
downloaded by each student and the total number of training units remaining. You can use these reports to track students'
progress.
How
many training units will I need?
No single person in your
organization needs to take every one of Manta's 100+ courses. Instead, each person needs only those
courses covering his or her job function.
Our
web site provides detailed catalog descriptions
of all Manta products, along with
curriculum recommendations for typical iSeries job functions (including
programmers, operators, system administrators, managers, and end-users). With this information, you can develop
detailed curriculum plans for each of your students, provided that you know
their backgrounds and prerequisite skills.
If this information is not available to you, the following chart shows
the number of Manta courses recommended for common job functions.
|
Job Function |
Number of Courses |
|
Programmer |
44-54 |
|
Operator |
22-25 |
|
System Administrator |
55-65 |
|
Manager or End-User |

For example, suppose it is
your job to train 40 programmers, 20 operators, 3 system administrators, and 10
managers. The following calculation
will give you a good estimate of the total training required.
|
Job Function |
Number of Students |
Minimum # Training Units |
Maximum # Training Units |

Programmer |

Manager or End-User |

Given these numbers, 3000
training units should be more than sufficient to train the entire 73-person
staff.
In some cases, you may
know the number of students to be trained, but have no idea of their individual
job responsibilities. In this
situation, we recommend planning 40 training units per student. If you have any questions, please call your Manta
sales representative, who can assist you in determining the level of training
required by your organization.
What
happens if I select the wrong commitment level?
We recommend that you
commit to the number of training units that you believe your organization will
use over the next 12 months. Don't
worry if you do not estimate your requirements exactly. If you overestimate your needs, you have
three full years to use the units you purchased.
If you underestimate your
needs, you have two choices. First, you
can purchase additional training units (in groups of 20) at same low unit price
you paid for your original commitment. Second,
you can make a new commitment at your higher usage level. This will reduce your price per training
unit even more.
How
do I sign up?
Call Manta (800-406-2682)
or your authorized Manta business partner for help in determining your
organization's iSeries training requirement.
Once you have determined the number of user IDs and the number of
training units you will require, Manta can fax you a contract. Once we receive your signed contract and
payment, the ID's will be activated and your students can begin training
immediately.
